Vintage Vineyard Theme Dish Towel Purple Primrose Bordier pour Jacquard Francais

SKU: THM 008
$10.00Price

Late 1970s or 1980s table linen designed by the colorful Primrose Bordier for Le Jacquard Francais company, which employed the first ‘card programmed’ jacquard looms. Mme Bordier began collaborating with the company in 1978 and revolutionized household linen colors, previously mostly white.

This hemmed dish / kitchen/ or tea towel is a dark purple, with gray-blue/green borders, stitching depicting in the center the harvesting, stomping, and pouring of wine out of vats, surrounded by grapes, floral images, and a crown at the top. The borders feature wording about ‘Le Gran Cru Classe’ vineyards, great wine, wine bottled by producers….

This one was used, probably by our grandmother Winona Sands who loved the color. The original tag with copyright is still attached as shown in photos. The back of the tag includes washing instructions.
