Vintage 1970s Madshus Birkebeiner Cross Country Wood Skis 196cm

Vintage 1970s Madshus Birkebeiner Cross Country Wood Skis 196cm

$200.00Price

These wood cross country skis were made by Madshus in Norway, come with Skilom bindings made in Norway (medium size).

The skis are beautifully handcrafted with interesting decorative motifs. Our mother’s name NANCY CHANDLER is written in pen under the lip of the bindings, just barely visible. They are clearly used but in very good condition given their age. They were probably last used no more recently than 20 years ago, maybe 30 years ago, but they seem structurally sound.

We understand they are supposed to be numbered, but we cannot find any identification number anywhere. Was this something started after the factory opened in the 1960s? Perhaps our mother’s skis are from the 1960s not the 1970s.

The skis length is approx. 77.5” (196 cm). Width varies from 2 ¼” near the top, 2” just below the bindings, and 2 1/8” near the bottom, which would be 5.72-5.08-5.40 in cm.

Note: We recommend these for decoration only. If you choose to test them in the snow, we assume no liability, thank you.
