Tibetan Dagger in Dragon Motif Metal Sheath

This short blade has a wire wrapped grip with a pommel/hilt of embossed light metal. The sheath is also light metal, embossed on one side with imagery depicting a dragon. The other side has a belt mount. The blade is held firmly in the sheath by two thin wood sheets, which can slip out when the knife is pulled. The sheath has a belt mount on the back. 
 
As is apparent in photos, we have not tries to polish or clean this piece. The back does have some serious staining but it may have been the way it was when made. There also appears to be some leftover residue from the last time someone tried to polish this.
 
This was probably bought in the late 1960s when our parents spent 18 months in Nepal. It may be much older however as most online comparables dated back to the turn of the past century.
