TI 020 Iket Kepala Headcloth 2/2

SKU: TI S020
$50.00Price

Experts identified this as a man's 'iket kepala' headcloth from Java, the Garuda wings emanating from the voided diamond-shaped center a principal element.

There is some natural discoloration, a tear and nick on top, and a couple of loose strings on the edge.

We believe this was purchased by the Burr sisters in the 1920s or 1930s during their travels.

You can read more about the iket kapala from the Art Institute Chicago. (Click here.)

Material is believed to be cotton, plain weave with hand-drawn wax resist dyed (batik tulis) with natural dyes.
