TI O 054 Minangkabau Weave with Metal Thread on Silk

This dark maroon silver-colored metal-threaded single panel 'songket' shoulder or head cloth is an understated treasure from Sumatra.
 
It has seen better days, exhibiting some splitting along decades-old folds (it has probably been in storage close to 50 years and we believe it dates back to the early 1900s), a few holes, stains, and a cut border as shown in photos.
 
An expert suggested it is worth $ 200 but also called it an 'unfinished piece'.
 
Material is believed to be silk with silver or metal-wrapped threading.
