This earth-toned single-panel hemmed textile is believed to have been created as an Indonesian wall hanging, or possibly for use as a sarong.

Experts suggested its value at $ 200+ despite the fact it is faded as shown in the third photo. Luckily, the fading appears almost natural, evenly cutting across the cloth.

One consultant told us the 'fading' is more likely a change in the natural dye lot for the weft threads. She also said it is probably from Pasemah, near Minangkabau but more remote. We believe it dates back to our 'eccentric spinster aunts' travels in the early 1900s (see About Us).

It does also have several darning areas, a few holes, the odd minor stain, and a few loose threads, with some fraying on the edges.

Material is believed to be cotton.
