TC 005 '100 Babies' Chinese Silk Wall Hanging

SKU: TC 005
$300.00Price

This color-shifting piece was a favorite family heirloom. It is dark brown in some light, a dark cream color in other light... Inherited by our grandparents from the Burr family, it hung on the living room wall for decades. Referred to lovingly as the '100 Babies' piece, it has 8 rows of different 'children' depicted, 12 per row, meaning only 96 (unless we missed some hidden in other patterns on the piece). The backside is lined with a yellow mustard color silk with floral pattern visible in the right light. There is a hem down the middle. We believe it was purchased by Alice and Marion Burr in the 1930s.

Imperfections: Many. It appears faded in sections but turn the cloth in the light and you might start to question your senses... some stitching appears to just be lighter... There are at least two holes, some loose threads, and a few stains, as shown in pictures, plus fraying in two places. The backside has many water stains and one odd colored panel (not shown), but none of these are visible from the front.

Material: Chinese silk
