Rare ‘Pah’ Woven Palm Leaf Basket from Burma

Rare ‘Pah’ Woven Palm Leaf Basket from Burma

$50.00Price

This caramel-coffee-tan banded woven basket box has interesting stitching at the bottom of the lid, believed to also be of plant matter, and a very deep bottom section. We identified it via only one comparable found online in the Peabody Harvard University Collection. The base weaving is a natural shade. The bands on the outer bottom section and the top are different shades and inconsistent as shown in photos. It is possible the palm leave strips were hand painted before weaving. It is in good condition with a few natural imperfections although the interior has a red stain and what we assume are ink marks.
