Nyonya Peranakan Straits Chinese Footed Tazzas (Set of 4)

Nyonya Peranakan Straits Chinese Footed Tazzas (Set of 4)

$250.00Price

These turquoise and yellow serving platters or plates date back to the late 1800s or early 1900s, created for export to Chinese communities in Southeast Asia, according to our research.

They come in a set of four, although only two seem to be of similar designs. Each is decorated with fruits and flowers with variations in colors. Each is stamped MADE IN CHINA on the bottom (although it is illegible on one).

Ours are in relatively good condition for their age, although one small one has a chip as shown in photos. There are natural imperfections including little holes in the glaze, some discoloration, and grit glazed onto the pedestals as shown in photos.

We believe they were purchased by the Burr sisters or our grandmother in the 1920s or 1930s when they visited China.

We have priced them as $ 50 each for the smaller ones and $ 75 each for the larger ones. Online prices varied greatly, with some small ones selling for an average of $ 50 each although some sites have priced them at more than double that. The larger ones were found at $ 130, $ 165 and $ 320.

If they do not sell as a set, we will be open to selling them individually.
