Nepali Hand Hammered Plate and Repoussed Pot with Wood Handle (1960s)

One of our favorite pieces, this pot gleams even though unpolished. We believe it is brass although one person told us it may be copper. (Others online are brass.) It features intricate hand-beaten repoussé designs, seven-leaf handle hinges, with what we believe are copper rivets, and a worn wood handle in good condition for its age. The plate has a Sanskrit letter in the middle, surrounded by floral motifs.
 
There is a rather large dent in the base that causes the pot to appear uneven from one side, but not the other. There is a lot of tarnish inside and the exterior could use a good polish. (You don’t know the will power required to not polish this for you!)
