Kim Chandler: Hand Sculpture
Nancy’s youngest daughter, Kim Chandler is an artist with Down Syndrome.
This unique piece is cast in an unknown metal with a gold sheen (maybe a bronze alloy). Kim remembers sticking her hand into a cast-making mix but not what kind of metal was used to complete the piece. The hand is actually somewhat larger than her own hand so we cannot confirm the story. We believe this was a College of Marin project when she was in the arts program there.
This sculpture can be laid on a counter as we’ve had it on display for years, or stood up on end, with the hand reaching to the sky. It has a handle of sorts on the back which also acts as a stand.
