Jo Mora (1876-1947): Evolution of the Cowboy Poster (1933) (30 1/8” x 22 ¾”)

$50.00Price

Also referred to as ‘Sweetheart of the Rodeo’, this Jo Mora classic explores the history of the cowboy from the time of the Spanish conquistadors. The illustrated educational poster, mounted on a wood frame, is an encyclopedia of all things cowboy but with a focus on the rodeo and all its contests.

Joseph ‘Jo’ Jacinto Mora (1876-1947) was an Uruguayan-born American artist and cartoonist who was fascinated with the Old West. He dedicated this to the California Rodeo of Salinas and put a copyright date of 1933 in the lower right corner.

It would go nicely with his other work in our collection, The Indians of North America.

There is a rip near the top of the frame on the left side and some damage to the edges, but otherwise it is in good condition for its age.

H 30 1/8” x 22 ¾” x 1”
