Indonesian Block Print Wax Painting Mounted on Frame (16” x 38.5”)

This unusual piece features floral patterns pressed onto a cloth mounted on a long horizontal board in shades of green, brown, orange and purple. The art appears covered with a form of wax of sealant. We have found nothing similar online.
 
We always thought it should hang vertically but the hanger on the back makes clear it is meant to be hunt horizontally (we have included a photo of what it looks like vertical anyway in case you wish to try it vertical).
 
There are spots on the artwork which appear to have peeled a bit but they may be natural imperfections. See photos. The frame is wood with some peeling in the back and a water stain on the other side as shown in photos.
