Hand Painted Antique Indonesian Folk Art Wood Carving Dolls in Traditional Dress

Note: The female's face and arms are actually wood color, not yellow as shown in photos for some reason.  
 
This skillfully hand painted couple are dressed in traditional wear, with many details to be admired from their sarongs to their jewelery and headdress, which we believe to be representative of Java.
 
We believe these were bought in the 1930s by the Burr sisters given the remnants of a hand-written sticker on the base of the male figurine. 
 
The male does lean forward a bit, but that appears to be as made, not due to any damage. His feet do however swing free of the glue originally holding them in place but are easy enough to slip back into place, the body held up internally. They both could use some careful cleaning but otherwise are in good condition for their age.
