Buddha Prayer Circle Wood Carving

Unusual Buddhist wood carving, slightly chipped, featuring gold colored Buddha and eight red-robed monks on a lotus-styled dias with what is believed to be a Sanskrit prayer circling base. The base has a hole that suggests it could be placed atop a peg of some sort. Crown atop Buddha's  head appears broken at first glance but on closer inspection it appears painted in gold, so probably not.
 
Priced in consultation with experts. We could find nothing comparable online but for one Burmese piece held by a collector. Burmese monks do wear redder robes than Thai monks...
