We are not sure of the age of this piece. Our mother was not either, given here note on the bottom wondering if she bought it in Nepal or if it belonged to the Burr sisters. Inside however was a card from a. g. h. ariff imports explaining what the bowl is and on the lid is stamped the brand for HAKAMOHANO POONA followed by some Sanskrit wording. Our guess is that Hakamohano was a trading company based in Pune/Poona, a city inn Maharashra state in western India. Ariff Imports probably brought this item to the USA where someone in our family bought it. Neither company pops up in a quick online search.

The card inside says: These bowls are called “katoras” in India. Unlike the highly polished ones which are used mainly for eating or drinking purposes, these are used for the storage or measuring of staples and lentils or for containing fruits and nuts.

Ours clearly needs polishing but appears never to have been used except as decor. There are scratches on the base but otherwise it is in great condition.

Comparables online are priced $ 76-160 at last check.
